Welcome to Park Forest, home of the Penguins! We follow our schoolwide positive behavior support program STAR (Show Kindness, Take Responsibility, Act Safely, Ready to Learn). Fun facts: Fifth-graders read the morning announcements and serve as building leaders called Penguin Ambassadors, and more than 45 flags from different nations hang in our multi-purpose room to represent our PFE community.

Maroon-topped tents pop up and delivery trucks heavy with produce rumble as a small army of SCASD employees and community volunteers prepare for the district’s weekly Summer Food for All program. During the next few hours, they will distribute a week’s worth of summer breakfasts and lunches for as many as 900 children.
A team of Park Forest Middle School students captured three national championships and finished as runners-up in three other events at the 47th National Technology Student Association Conference.
Following the resignation of Board of Directors member Dan Kolbe, which was effective June 18, 2025, the SCASD Board of Directors held a special meeting on July 1. At the meeting, the board selected Jesse Barlow as the new member with a 7-1 vote.
State College Area High School held its inaugural State College OSCARs (SCOSCARs), recognizing student filmmakers across six categories. Eleventh-grader Nate Tranell won Best Picture for "The Sleepless Watch," a 19-minute psychological drama.
Tristan Rogers, a senior, won a gold medal at the SkillsUSA state culinary competition, qualifying him for the SkillsUSA Nationals Skills and Leadership Conference in Atlanta, Ga.
Emma Brown, Anna Coupland, Maya Dombroskie, Claire Fox, Yulian Itskov-Curto, Hannah Kifer, Joshua Lin, Ayla Marvasti, Thea Miller-Priddy, and Constantine Pan were among the approximately 15,000 students nationwide who reached the finalist stage for a National Merit Scholarship.
