This spring, SCASD Athletics will be offering intramural track and field on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Track and field Intramurals run from 3:00-4:30 p.m. and will be held at Park Forest Elementary School.

Parents are expected to pick up their children at Park Forest Elementary at 4:30 p.m. Pull up in the bus lane by the main office and coaches will dismiss your child to you.

Students will have an opportunity to practice track and field events and prepare for the district-wide track and field meet held in May. The coaches will be stressing fun, fitness, and good sportsmanship.

Please note that, if there is inclement weather, intramurals will be canceled. A decision will be made by 11:00 a.m. and an email will be sent to all 4th and 5th families in the event of a cancellation.

 

Practice and All-District Meet Dates
  • 4th Grade (Tuesdays):  April 2, 9, 16, 23, 30, May 7
  • 5th Grade (Thursdays):  April 4, 11, 18, 25, 2, 9 
  • PLEASE NOTE NEW DATES FOR THE TRACK MEET:
    5th grade only will meet on Day 1 (Tuesday, May 14th) and 
    4th grade only will meet on Day 2 (Wednesday, May 15th).  
    RAIN DATES ARE MAY 23rd & MAY 24th if needed!

     

For the Track and Field Meet Only - Students will be bussed from Park Forest Elementary to the South Track. PARENTS NEED TO PICK UP CHILDREN AT THE HIGH SCHOOL (ON THESE DAYS ONLY). Please arrive no later than 5:30 p.m. on these days.

Permission slips will be handed out in your child's classroom and MUST BE TURNED IN BEFORE the student can participate. Permission slips must be turned in at least one day prior to beginning track.

The district-wide track and field meet for 4th and 5th graders will be held at the High School South Track in May.

Please note that the elementary district-wide track meet is held on days when the High School State College Track and Field team are away for district championships and state championships.

Re:   Elementary Intramural Track and Field Meet

Greetings everyone,

I am writing to you with updated parking information for the Elementary Intramural Track and Field Meet on May 14th & 15th at the High School Track. We will host 5th grade on Tuesday, May 14th and 4th grade on Wednesday, May 15th. Start time is 4:15 with an expected end time of 6:30, though participants may leave with families after all their events are completed and they have checked out with a coach.

Tickets for the IM Track Meet:

We will have a donation stand at the gate, but there is not an entrance fee this year.

Parking on school property:

  1. Parking in the lot behind the south building (this lot will be extremely busy due to the dismissal time and buses picking up high school students).  Please do not plan on arriving before 4:00 PM.  The track meet will start around 4:15 pm.  Elementary students will remain at the elementary schools until 3:45 PM.  They will be supervised by a coach and will warm up during this time. An aerial map of the South Parking lot is displayed below.
  2. Parking in the South Building spaces along the side by the practice fields, and visitor parking in front of the new entrance is discouraged.
  3. Parking at the North Lot (students will be leaving this lot at the end of the school day) is available and larger. Please do not plan on arriving before 4:00 PM.
  4. Parking along the traffic lane into the South Building is NOT permitted due to the two-way traffic pattern.  Please do not block the roadway or limit any roads to one lane.
  5. There is ample handicapped accessible parking available in the South Parking lot, with spots available adjacent to the track, and in other portions of the parking lot.
  6. Overflow parking is also available in the North Parking lot, adjacent to North Turf Field.

Parking off of school property:

  • Parking off of school property is at your own risk and is discouraged. You may be ticketed or towed if using the Weis plaza parking spaces. Please follow posted parking signs and restrictions if using off campus areas.

Other South Track information:

  • Restrooms will be available and open at the South Track (located on the side of the concession stand).
  • Booster Club Concessions will be available, although students are encouraged to bring ample water to stay hydrated.
